Abstract

This research aims to test the effectiveness of digital comic media as a learning tool in increasing interest in reading folklore among fifth grade elementary school students. The low interest in reading of traditional oral literature among students is a major problem in the digital era, where children are more interested in visual and interactive content. The research used a quasi-experimental approach with a pretest-posttest control group design in two parallel classes (experimental class and control class) at SDN 1 Tugumulyo, Lempuing District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, academic year 2024/2025, each with 30 students. The control group used a packaged textbook and regular story sheets. The instrument for measuring reading interest uses a Likert scale of 30 statements that has been validated (? = 0.89). Data were analyzed using paired t-test and independent t-test as well as gain score analysis. The results show that the average gain score for reading interest in the experimental group was 0.68 (high category), while the control group was only 0.31 (medium category). The independent t-test on the posttest shows a sig value. (2-tailed) = 0.000 < 0.05, so that digital comic media has proven to be effective in increasing interest in reading folklore significantly.
